I received a phone call from an old friend, his name is Greg (top row, center, pink hydrangea beard).
"Are you a florist now?" (We haven't seen each other for over a year)
"Yes" I reply
"Good, I think I have a job for you".
And that was that.
Kopparberg Cider were holding a month long residency in Abbot Street car park, this had then been transformed into an Urban Forest for the summer and hosted food, drinks and live music.
On the last weekend of the Urban Forest I was asked to host a nice little flower stall, not just any flower stall but a Kopparbeard flower stall. This would be the place that lovely men and their big, medium and small whiskers could be decorated in an assortment of florals, sound strange? It shouldn't as this was and still is Kopparberg's latest ad campaign, hansdsome men with beards of elder flower, which is their summer cider flavour.
Anyway... what was meant to be a little highlight of the day ended up becoming a bit of a monster. Originally scheduled to decorate 9 beards for the day drastically became 50 beards, and then about 50 girls who wanted their hair decorated...a lovely man who wanted his afro fully covered and there were very patient people waiting up to 2 hours to be transformed from everyday revelers to whimsical urban flower fairies.
A lot of fun, everyone was in high spirits, you couldn't have asked for or imagined a better result.
Massive thank you to all at Kopparberg, 18 Feet and Rising and to my dear friend Oli Daw of Blow to Go who helped me out when all I could see was petals and pollen.
I want to do it all over again!!
